Milani Matte Confident is a part of Milani Moisture matte collection. It is a very deep red with cool, blue undertones. the very first time I saw it, I thought that it might be a dupe for MAC’s Diva, but when I brought it home and compared the two, I realized that Diva is much darker and has more brown undertones to it. Matte Confident reminds me more of a MAC Rooby Woo, except for Rooby Woo is bluer and lighter. This color will look gorgeous against many skin tones, but since it is a deeper, darker red, it will work wonders on olive, medium and dark skin tones.
Like the rest of Milani Moisture Mattes, Matte Confident is a moisturizing matte, that doesn’t last as long on the lips as we would all like to–only about 3-4 hours. Transfers really well, so reapplication is necessary. These flaws can be easily overlooked however, considering that it is very pigmented, provides full coverage in one stroke and moisturizes lips while giving them the oh-so-trendy matte look.
It does leave an uneven stain when you take it off or if you let it completely fade. Sometimes I am a fan of the stain, but this time, I am just not. I prefer my stain to be even. The scent is very light and is hard to catch at first–it is reminiscent of creme brûlée or Italian custard. Once it is on the lips, it fades away completely.
Overall, I will say, I like this lipstick, but not sure whether I would repurchase, since the staying power had really let me down.
