L’Oreal Aphrodite Kiss is a part of the relatively new L’Oreal launch– “Pro Matte Gloss”. The name can definitely be a little misleading since it both says “matte” and “gloss”. What L’Oreal really meant is that this is a matte liquid lipstick that comes in the same packaging as their infallible lip gloss.
The color Aphrodite Kiss is a beautiful medium pink that is borderline red. The beauty of this color in my opinion is that it can look either red or pink, depending on your skin undertone. It has neutral undertones, as the amounts of blue and yellow in it are equal. Therefore, this color will look great on almost any skin tone.
As for the formula, as you might have already guessed, the finish is supposed to be matte. Well, it is not really matte. It looks more satin than matte, to me anyway. It dries matte but only in about an hour or so, but that is also when the color itself starts slowly but surely fading away. The color lasts for about 3-4 hours and transfers really well, so if you eat or drink, you will definitely need to reapply. It does leave an uneven stain when you remove it, but the stain is very easy to get rid of. One of my favorite things about this lipstick is the application. It glides on super smooth and it is super opaque, yet very lightweight. The applicator tip is sharp enough to line the lips. So the lip liner is not really necessary.
It smells not like the rest of L’Oreal lipstick–it actually smells nice. Very flowery scent that fades away once it is on the lips.
Overall, I like this lipstick and would repurchase.
Who can pull off: almost any skin tone. Will look great on girls with light to medium and olive skin tones.
Closest dupe: Maybelline Vivid Rose
Best Matching lip liner: really don’t need a lip liner, since the applicator tip is sharp enough to line the lips. However, if you do want to use a lip liner, use MAC In Anticipation.
