Just like many beauty (and especially lipstick) addicts, I was anticipating the release of the new Maybelline matte lipsticks. And just like so many of us living in my state, I had trouble finding them in stores. Some stores did not have them yet and others were already sold out! Needles to say, these lipsticks are pretty popular and now that I am finally able to get my hands on them, I know why.
Due to its high popularity I was able to pick up only one color and that is: “Divine Wine”. This shade is a beautiful deep, dark, brown-red. I was looking for the shade of red this dark for a while, so this fit the bill perfectly.
Now for the formula: it is very pigmented, opaque and full coverage. The application was so silky and smooth I had trouble believing it will come out looking as matte as it actually did. I did not experience any tagging and one stroke was enough to reach an even color. It lasted on me all night– for about 7-8 hours. It did transfer leaving my lips with an “ombre” effect where the color fades out in the middle. However, I found that even when it did that, it still managed to look even and pretty on the lips. This shade did leave a stain, yet it was not drying, as well as was not hydrating either.
Overall, I loved this lipstick and it is going to top the list of my favorites amongst my collection.
